Exciting new outdoor trends
This summer is set to see some exciting trends in outdoor living. Neutrals are still king this year, particularly shades of grey, however designer patterns will be particularly popular for accents and are an easy way to customise an outdoor room. A contemporary style will be driven by metallic finishes with shimmering platinum and near-bronze completing the modern looks adding shine to pool-side patios.
Fire pits and outdoor fireplaces have been increasingly popular over the last few years and they are now going beyond the standard outdoor fireplace or pit. Fire elements not only add practical warmth to an outdoor space, but they also provide a beautiful visual element.
Wicker and rattan have taken on a stylish new flair with white, dark grey, and black rattan and wicker appearing in design magazines and on design store floors. Not only does this type of outdoor furniture last a long time and wear well, it’s super easy to clean, very comfortable, and versatile. It also perfectly complements the trend of bringing natural and organic elements into outdoor living spaces.

One of the biggest outdoor furniture trends in 2016 is using mixed materials. Combinations of both wood and resin has become quite common, and you can expect to see more stone and glass pieces this year as well. Teak and stainless steel or concrete are unexpected combinations that are turning up in outdoor furniture. This particular trend helps create a space that’s less stuffy and more casual and welcoming.
